the suspects could have been linked to an armed robbery in san jose. here's the intersection where the drive-by shooting happened and police were led on a wild chase through three east bay cities late last night. our cameras caught the chase north through 880. police tried to pull the driver other in hayward for dui and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle in oakland where it crossed across the center median. the three occupants were taken into custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three could be tied to a shooting in hayward early yesterday afternoon. a man was driving with his wife and child at tennyson and kalaroga when he was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survive. a hayward police officer tweeted around mid

4's rob fladeboe is live tonight in san jose. rob what is the latest? the object of the amber alert, this white 2006 jeep liberty was located just before noon here in the parking lot of a southside apartment complex on amargoza court with the baby still inside. about 5 hours earlier, just after 6:30 monday morning, 11-month old gabriella quintero was in her carseat in the back of that s.u.v. parked here in the driveway of the family residence on amador court. as her mother went inside for something, police say a woman on foot got behind the wheel of the jeep and sped away. an amber alert and the child's photo and susepct vehicle information was flashed across the bay area. one of many tips led police to where gabriella was found. christina calleros saw the rescue unfold. it's not clear what led the suspect vehicle here to amargoza court, some five miles from the baby's home in east san jose. police could be seen going door to door canvassing the neighborhood, taping off large section of the sprawling complex. the white s.u.v. hauled away for a more thorough inpsection. the disticnti

woke up with an intruder standing over her bed. janine de la vega is live in san jose to tell us more about the suspect and what they reportedly found on him when he was or rested. january seen in? -- janeane? >> reporter: you can see they have been investigating for the last two hours and a registered sex offender was standing over a woman and his intentions were unknown. a 52-year-old woman said she was sleeping and woke up to find a male intruder standing over her bed. she told police she screamed and he ran away. she described him as having a bald head and they set up a perimeter and they ended up spotting him trying to escape the perimeter. >> is he a sex offender with the state of california and is on parole for burglary. he has done this before obviously because when we stopped him, he had a cell phone app with the police frequencies as we were setting up the perimeter. we did find women's underwear and we are not sure if it was hers because her daughter is out of town. >> reporter: police have identified the suspect as ryan cancel of san jose. he was wearing an ankle brace let
